Dear All,
Coffee Morning in the Village Hall
Sorry but there will be no coffee morning in the Village Hall in June because we will be setting up for the Village Fete.
Village Fete – 13th June – Setting up
If you can we would love to see you at Court Cottage at 9 am on 13th June to help set up.
Village Fete – Treasure Hunt
Children’s Treasure Hunt – Saturday 13 June from 2pm
The excitement is building and many thanks to the households joining in by having some ‘treasure’ in their house or garden.
Please would you let me know if your child/children will be taking part (don’t forget that children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) so that I can email or drop through your letter box a note explaining what’s involved and your start time. Please WhatsApp/email/text me with the names of the child or children taking part and your email (preferably) or house address. Make sure you check your email for the letter (including your junk mail in case it ends up in there!).The entry fee is £2 per team or person. No need to pay in advance, just bring it along on the day.
Closing date for registration is 6 pm on Wednesday 10th June.
Thank you
Helen

Swift Awareness week is from 27th June to 5th July
Swifts are a Red List bird. Help the Swifts of Shipton Moyne! Every summer, swifts grace our skies with their breathtaking aerial displays — but their numbers are in sharp decline across the UK. One of the main reasons is a lack of nesting sites, as older buildings are renovated and gaps sealed up.
You can make a difference from your own home.
Swift boxes are simple, inexpensive nest boxes that can be fixed under the eaves of a house, barn, or outbuilding. Once installed, they can attract swifts for decades — the same pairs return year after year to the same nest site.
Why put up a swift box?
Swifts are incredible birds, spending almost their entire lives on the wing and travelling from Africa each spring. A single swift can eat hundreds of thousands of insects in a season.
Boxes are low-maintenance and unobtrusive.
You’ll be rewarded with one of the most spectacular wildlife displays in the British countryside. Getting started is easy. Swift boxes and guidance are available from the RSPB and Swift Conservation (swift-conservation.org). Boxes work best on north- or east-facing walls, at least 5 metres from the ground, away from overhanging branches.
Swift Awareness week is from 27th June to 5th July. If anyone is keen, I would propose a village event on Saturday 27th June to put up boxes on anyones buildings who would like to participate. I am happy to coordinate the procurement of the boxes. Please let me know if anyone is interested.
