Village News 29th October 2022

Dear All,

St John the Baptist

A big thank you to the Revd Dr Steve Bullock, our new curate, who took the Family Service last Sunday.  We did not know that we had a magician in our midst and were much entertained by his sleight of hand.

This Sunday we celebrate All Saints Day, but as it is the 5th Sunday in the month there is no morning service in Shipton Moyne.  There will instead be a benefice evensong in Beverston at 6pm on Sunday. All welcome.

Remembrance Reflection Friday 11th November at 6.30pm

Don’t forget to put this is your diaries. It will last about an hour and will be followed by a glass of wine and canapes.

A message from Julie Nicholson:

Thank you to all who have been in touch and offered to contribute readings, personal stories and music. There’s still time for anyone wishing to take part. Please contact Julie on 07850 367779.

Bonfire Night

Preparations for Shipton Moyne Fireworks are proceeding well. It’s not too late to volunteer to help out with the gate, bar or bbq. Please let Kate Allies or James Birdwood know.

Tickets are available from Doreen Gibbings and the Cat & Custard Pot.

£10 adults £5 children. It would be appreciated if you buy your tickets in advance so we have some idea of numbers for the bar and food!

If you are making a guy please use only combustible materials, ie no metal or plastics. If anyone wants some straw to stuff their guy we have plenty here.

New Arrival in the Village

On 2nd November Ant Farquhar (Katie Pitman’s father) is moving into Hollywell, opposite the pub.  We look forward to welcoming him to the village.
