Village Hall – A Message From Caroline Baker

Following the resignation of our Chairman, Doreen Gibbings, after 50 years of serving on the committee, we are looking to recruit a new trustee. If anyone is interested in joining the Village Hall Committee, please let a committee member know. The current committee is Pauline Curthoys, Caroline Baker, Annemarie Tierney, Diane Peplow and Harriet Lattimer and they will be happy to answer any questions you may have. We would like to thank Doreen very much for all her support and hard work and are delighted that she will remain as an Honorary Life Member. She has too much wisdom to let her rest on her laurels. Thank you, Doreen, for all your years of service, it is appreciated.

The Hall is to close on Friday 31st July for necessary repair works to the internal panelling and will re-open on Monday 1st September. While closed we are also taking the opportunity to replace our very old radiators. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this will cause.

Many thanks,
Caroline

Recreation Ground

The compost bins in the Playground are needed for the grass cuttings and leaf collection from that area. They are not a communal asset. Please could those who have been using them for their garden waste please arrange to put it elsewhere or use the Council Green Waste Collection service.

Play Reading at the Cat & Custard Pot

The planned play reading of Midsummer’s Night’s Dream on the 3rd July has been postponed as so many people are away.

Book Club

The Shipton Moyne Book Club will meet on Monday 30th June 6.30pm at the Cat & Custard Pot to discuss The Women by Kristen Hannah. If you plan to attend please let Helen Willis know so she can let the pub know numbers.

7/7 London Bombings

To mark the 20th Anniversary of the 7/7 Bombings the BBC is releasing a series of programmes on the 2nd July to mark the event. The programmes will be on BBC 4 starting at 9pm with a programme called ‘7/7 One Day in London‘. There will be an interview with Julie Nicholson and Frank McGuiness at 10.30pm.

Many thanks. Any more news, let me know,

Beth
