Daphne Ann Hicks
Daphne passed away peacefully in Southmead Hospital on Wednesday 31st December 2025, aged 87 years.
Loving wife to the late John. Much loved mother of Sue, Jude and Dave. Greatly missed mother in law, nan/gran, great gran and friend to many.
Daphne was born in Tetbury where she attended Tetbury Grammar School. She met John, her husband, when she was 14 and they married in 1957. It was then that they bought the house in Shipton Moyne where they spent all their married life together until John died in 2014. Daphne moved to Athelstan House in Malmesbury in 2021. She lived there happily keeping busy for the last four and a half years. She will be remembered by many as the Mother of Shipton Moyne. Her door was always open to visitors and she knew everyone and exactly what was happening in the village. She was both Church Warden and Verger for the Church here.
The funeral service will be held in St. John The Baptist Church, Shipton Moyne on Thursday 29th January 2026, at 12.30pm. Afterwards everyone is invited back to the Village Hall for refreshments.
