Dear All,
H.M. Queen Elizabeth II
After today’s sad news, the churchwardens have the following information about the next few days:
You may have noticed that the flag is now flying at half mast on the church.
Tomorrow (Friday) evening at 6pm there will be a special service of evensong in the church to remember and give thanks for Her Majesty’s long life of service. The tenor bell will be tolled before the service.
The church will be open as normal for prayer and reflection during the days to come.
There will be a book of condolence at Tetbury Church.
On Saturday at 11am it is expected that Charles III will be proclaimed King. At this point and until 1pm on Sunday the flag will be raised to full-mast to mark this. After that it will return to half-mast until Her Majesty’s funeral.
On Sunday there will be Matins at 11.15am as planned, taken by Rev Julie Nicholson. The readings, prayers and hymns will be chosen to reflect this time of mourning, but we will also sing God Save the King, for the first time for almost all of us.
I am sure there will be more news over the next few days,
Beth
