In 1999 a committee was formed to raise monies for the Village to celebrate the new Millennium. During this year, fundraising events were held, which enabled the committee to put on a Donkey Derby and Dance, free-of-charge for all residents at that time. Events included a quiz night at "The Cat", a Halloween party for the children, coffee mornings, a country dance and a cheese and wine with donkey auction / lottery.
On 1st January 2000, residents attended a service of celebration at the church, followed by a group photograph, which hangs in the Village Hall. The celebrations took part on the evening of Friday, 23rd June 2000 with a hog roast and on Saturday, 24th June with the Donkey Derby and Fete, followed by a Millennium Dance. A great time was had by all!
